Ornamenta

An exhibition project, Charlottenborg Autumn exhibition, 2003.
A collaboration between jewellery artists Josephine Winther and Mette Saabye, and silversmith Anette Dreyer – experimenting with the staging of jewellery and its significance as body adornment, commenting on the body, art, culture and context.

The jewellery is exhibited on 1:1 photos of models in a variety of poses, and serves as a way of rethinking traditional display methods. The works in the exhibition aren’t characterised by their traditional utility value, but are instead incorporated in the actual compositions, on the photos and in the room, and thereby disseminate the relationship between body and space. Generally speaking, one can say that Ornamenta is a project based on a traditional craft object – a piece of jewellery, with a function that interprets and comments on the relationship that goes beyond the traditional perception of craftsmanship.
