In 2022, Thorvaldsen’s Museum formed the framework for an artistic research stay, where jewellry artist Mette Saabye and graphic artist Helle Vibeke Jensen investigated and worked with Thorvaldsen’s large collection of antique engraved gemstones, which were on show at the same time in the special exhibition DYREBAR on the museum’s first floor.

The function of the engraved gemstones as signets and their artistic expression was the central focal point for Saabye and Jensen’s investigations.

During the stay, one of the museum’s exhibition rooms was transformed into their workshop.

M·A·R·S Mobile Archive for Roomy Society

Since 2018, Saabye and Jensen have worked with the joint artistic project M·A·R·S, where they share knowledge, experiment and inspire each other to create their own and joint works for exhibition projects.
